Rest in peace Kenny

"He was an honourable man. Rest in peace, our dear brother."

Kenny Segaole, Democratic Alliance (DA) activist and volunteer, was a man with a huge heart and physical strength beyond his size.

He passed away on Tuesday, 31 May in the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital after a short illness. The DA acknowledges his untiring support and contribution to the party, both in his own much-loved Munsieville and on the wider West Rand. He also served as a DA staff member for a period of approximately four years.

Very few can do as much as Kenny could. One day he would be high up on a ladder putting up DA posters, another day he would be doing door-to-door canvassing in his Munsieville community, and on others he would be assisting the sick on behalf of his home-based frail care NGO.

Kenny had something about him that was modest and humble and yet energetic. He was a prodigious worker for the DA. His vitality and loyalty can be rated the highest. He had a magnetic warmth and ease about him, and would plague you to let him do “real work”.

The next morning he would be there again, thirsting for toil. While many people think that real work is something to flee from, he regarded labour as dignified and satisfying.

Kenny was one of few people who showed the ineradicable goodness of human nature.

“We celebrate his contribution and extend our condolences to his mother, Anna and family based in Munsieville,” a statement from the Krugersdorp Caucus reads.

“He was an honourable man. Rest in peace, our dear brother.”
