[WATCH] Sandboarding down the mine dump
The Krugersdorp mine dump is more than just a back drop for the town.
A handful of Krugersdorp High School pupils were invited to slide down the Krugersdorp mine dump recently.
Richard van Schalkwyk, owner of Richard Henry Productions, says that he was inspired to film a group of youngsters sliding down the mine dump, as this was something that he did as a child.
“When I was younger, a group of us would go down the old mine dumps sitting on old car bonnets and it was great fun,” he said.
He says that the event is held in a controlled space and that only a certain number of people are allowed to participate, for safety reasons.
This is the second time he has filmed at the mine dump, and he is now organising another shoot, but this one will take place in the evening, using neon lighting.
