‘Consider us when entering this cycle challenge’

Local home for elderly asks to be considered as a charity for upcoming cycle challenge.

If you want to take part in this year’s 947 Cycle Challenge, why not do it in aid of a local home for the aged?

Luipaardsvlei Home for the Aged provides residential care services to 105 frail and debilitated elderly persons in need of 24-hour care who cannot live independently.

It also renders support and home-based care services to an additional 85 older and disabled persons in the community, especially in the informal settlements of Tudor Shaft, Soul City and Bullbrand.

“Most of our beneficiaries are frail and semi-frail people with partial or total limitations regarding self-care. Some require therapy and therefore need regular or continuous care and assistance. The current tendency that the number of people older than 85 will double in the next 20 years, already shows in our home and puts more pressure on service delivery to our residents,” Amy de Bruin, marketing and fundraising officer for Luipaardsvlei Home for the Aged said.

“We have set ourselves a target to raise R50 000.”

If you would like to ride in this year’s 947 Cycle Challenge to benefit Luipaardsvlei Home for the Aged, contact Amy on 071 509 3115 or email luiptvb2@mweb.co.za.
