When in Africa …

Sometimes wild animals do roam the streets in South Africa.

Foreigners visiting Africa often expect wild animals to be lurking around every corner, but that is just a ridiculous stereotype. Or is it?

The stereotype became a young couple’s harsh reality on the evening of 1 July. According to Conserv Security, a young couple was driving home in two vehicles at approximately 10.30pm, when a blue wildebeest bolted out of a bush in the Kromdraai area.

The woman, who was driving ahead of her fiancé, could not avoid a collision and hit the animal. When her fiancé stopped to help her, more wildebeest came storming across the road and damaged his vehicle.

One wildebeest had to be put down the next morning, and both vehicles were damaged.
