Raymond Petrowski, store manager at Food Lover’s Market Krugersdorp, shares some tips and tricks on how to speed up the ripening process of avocados:

• Place unripe avocados in a brown paper bag with a banana. Close the bag and store in a dry place with enough light for 18–24 hours.

• To ripen an avocado in ten minutes, tightly wrap the unripe avocado in tin foil. Place it on a baking tray in the oven, with the oven set to approximately 100 degrees Celsius. Keep a close eye on it for 10 minutes.
