Local teachers take on Kilimanjaro

After a gruelling six days, they reached the top of the mountain.

Gavin Bekker, a Krugersdorp High School teacher and his wife Genevieve, a Monument Primary teacher, set off for the adventure of a lifetime in Tanzania.

They were determined to tick an item off their bucket list – to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Six days after their departure, they reached the top.

“The views from the top were everything we expected, and more,” Gavin said.

He added that the toll the climb takes on a person’s body is underestimated.

The Krugersdorp High School community would like to congratulate the couple on their tremendous achievement.
