On Thursday, 28 July in Sir Seretse Kgama Street in Kagiso, a 17-year-old unlicensed driver rammed into the side of another vehicle which had a four-year-old child as a passenger. The child was rescued and taken to hospital after she started throwing up while her father was trapped inside the vehicle.

It has come to the attention of the News that the 17-year-old was driving a car belonging to his father, who is a policeman. The unlicensed driver who caused the accident and the man that he drove into were both taken to hospital.

“A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened and police are currently investigating how an unlicensed driver had access to a car and because he is under age, his parents are involved,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya told the News.
