The race is afoot – welcome to the News, Bianca!

The News would like to welcome Bianca to the team.

I, Bianca Pindral, never expected my career would take off at the speed of an equestrian race.

One moment my ‘horse’ was still uncomfortably locked behind the gates called North West University, Potchefstroom, the next it was trotting up to the starting gates in the Randfontein Herald’s offices. On Tuesday morning, 23 August, the gates swung open as a phonecall rang the bells to start the race. I didn’t know what lay ahead of me. The first corner: the Krugersdorp News’ editor wants me, then a quick dash along the straights: they want me to start the very next day. As the race continued, I felt uneasy. I have to finish my work at the Herald. I have to say goodbye to the residents I have lived among for so long. The final turn of the race: Wednesday morning – I looked back at my fellow journalist jockeys who’d been by my side for the first leg of the race, but whom I now had to leave behind to finish the rest of the race.

As I walked into the News’ newsroom on Wednesday, 24 August, new fellow journalist jockeys greeted me and I knew the next leg of the race had started. I smiled as I was quickly introduced to them in what felt like a victor’s round.

Now, with new jockeys beside me and new grounds to be run on, I am excited to start telling the stories of Krugersdorp with the same attention, love and awe as I did while in Randfontein.

Each article is a ribbon I wear with pride. I therefore give special attention to every one of the articles and make sure it is something readers can be proud of as well.

Contact Bianca via email at biancap@caxton.co.za with any article ideas you would like to share and she will write them with great attention and vigour.

Welcome to the team, Bianca!
