Today is ‘The Duchess Who Wasn’t Day’

Today, 27 August, is ‘The Duchess Who Wasn’t Day’. It celebrates the life of Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, an Irish novelist who published under the pen name of ‘The Duchess’.

The Duchess is also the name of her most popular novel, which was published in 1887. She is also the creator of the phrase ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’.
