Update – Condom couple promised street light
'We regret that the family has had to deal with such inconvenience'
There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for the Dubs family of Burger Street.
Erika and Sepp Dubs said that an endless trail of condoms litter their street every weekend as passers-by do the nasty under their tree. They claimed the reason they choose their tree is because there is no working streetlight at that specific spot.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has now promised to resolve the matter by either fixing a broken streetlight or installing a light if need be. “We regret that the family has had to deal with such inconvenience,” Nkosana Zali, MCLM spokesperson said. “The team will take care of the matter within the 48-hour turnaround time leg.”
Nkosana said the municipality has a dedicated streetlights maintenance department within Energy Services. “The team indicated that they have never received such a query and we have no reason to doubt them. Our response time on matters like this, if communicated with sufficient detail, are dealt with expeditiously.”

Erika said municipal workers visited the site yesterday (7 September) to fix the light, but realised they needed to install a light instead. “The worker said he had a light to install, but he needed a bracket to house it and would return the following day,” Erika said. “We also noticed municipal workers sweeping the upper part of our street. When we told them that our part needed to be swept as well, they said it would be our side’s turn tomorrow.” Erika said she anticipates their return and hopes the problems will be resolved quickly.
