Vacuum woes prickling the nose?
Allergy sufferers experience the season in a different way.

It’s Spring; and a glorious array of colourful blooming flowers decorates the outdoors while sensational smells brighten up the once dull atmosphere. For many, spring means happiness, summer vibes and joyful outdoor activities.
However, allergy sufferers experience the season in a different way. Netflixing on the couch, armed with a canister of nose-spray is just one of the ways they spend the scent season.
According to Liam Gawne, a spokesperson for a leading appliance manufacturer, allergy sufferers have probably tried a myriad treatments to alleviate their symptoms, such as various medications and antihistamines.
“However, most allergy-causing substances are found directly in your home – pet dander, dust mites, mould spores, and cigarette smoke and ash – all of which can be dramatically reduced by using a vacuum cleaner more effectively,” Liam said. In his latest announcement, Liam addressed some typical mistakes made by people using a vacuum cleaner.
He said although your house may seem clean, dust mites, pet hair, or dirt can be left behind.
“It is essential to clean everywhere – ensuring that you eliminate all contaminated areas where allergens, dust and debris are likely to have collected,” Liam said.
He says you also need to ensure that your vacuum cleaner is a cleaner and not just a spreader. When a vacuum cleaner doesn’t seal properly, it captures the larger particles, but the smaller particles are released into the air once again.
Vacuum cleaner features can assist in the efficiency of the device. The HEPA filter (high-efficiency particulate air) is one of the most important. Some types of filters are designed to catch even the smallest bits of dust and allergens. Features close to the filter such as dustbags are also very important in aiding the filter to reduce excessive dust.
Efficiency dustbags are a good example of such dust entrapment technologies. They are made from random-spun fiber and have a softer feel for improved air-flow and dust distribution, ensuring better functionality and air quality.
“Always use a dustbag,” Liam said. “Bagless models are less effective at trapping smaller dust particles and thus pollute the air.”
Good suction strength, he says is imperative for a good clean. This feature works along with tightly sealed components to ensure clean is actually clean.
Typically, upright models feature a brush roll or beater bar mechanism, which is ideal for digging out dirt from deep within your carpets. Although it seems silly, vacuum your mattress at the start of every season to ensure your allergies don’t creep up from underneath you.
