Welfare spreads the love
"We wanted to show the kids the fun side of life."
The Krugersdorp Child Welfare held a fun day on Friday (16 September) to give the children in foster care some tender loving care and a day of fun.
“Many of the children are still going through their foster care grant application, and the process can be disheartening. So we decided to host an event to show them the fun side of life, and to show them that they are a part of the family,” said Adelaide Mongae, a social worker from Krugersdorp Child Welfare.
The fun day is an annual event and its theme is based on a need identified within the community. This year’s theme was issues relating to safety, and the Department of Community sent representatives to speak to the children, as well as teach them a few safety songs.
The Krugersdorp Child Welfare would like to thank the following organisations for their contributions to the fun day:
• Giggles Events
• Royal Family Kids
• DB Discos
• The Department of Community Safety
• Nadine van Rensburg – counselling therapist
