Man assaulted with glass bottle
"Although we are making arrests on most of them, patrons must conduct themselves in a manner that is appropriate."
Lieutenant Colonel Tsoaedi, station commander at the Tarlton Police Station, expressed grievous concern at the number of liquor-related assault cases reported recently, after one man assaulted another with a glass bottle on Sunday, 10 October.
It is alleged that two men, aged 25 and 36, started fighting with the 22-year-old victim at approximately 2am in Joe’s Tavern. It is further alleged that after they’d assaulted the victim, they threw him into one of their vehicles and left him there. He was later rescued.
The suspects were arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm soon after they allegedly committed the crime. The victim sustained numerous moderate injuries.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
“Although we make arrests in most of these cases, patrons must conduct themselves in a manner that is appropriate – disorderly conduct and behaviour will not be tolerated,” Tsoaedi said.
Tsoaedi also pleaded with the victims of domestic violence – particularly those who opened criminal cases against perpetrators – not to drop charges and to let the law take its course.
