The Sector 7 Community Policing Forum (CPF) discovered the body of a male – presumed to be in his 30s – in the middle of Firebush Street in Rangeview on 3 November at about 9pm.

It is believed a CPF sector 8 patrol co-ordinator drove past the man lying in the middle of the street, but could not stop at that time. He notified Sector 7’s dispatch and soon other patrollers went to investigate the scene. They discovered that the man was no longer alive.

The man was allegedly neatly dressed. He appeared to have an extremely serious head injury. The patrollers said they barricaded the scene to ensure no evidence would be lost before the Krugersdorp detectives arrived to investigate.

The detectives allegedly found the man lying in a pool of blood and confirmed that he had sustained a gunshot wound.

The detectives also noticed that robbery did not seem to be the motive for the killing, as the deceased was still in possession of his Tag Heuer watch, his wallet containing some money, and jewellery.

The patrollers regulated traffic while the detectives and forensic pathologists gathered evidence from the scene. The body was then loaded into the forensic vehicle and transported to a nearby morgue.

“CPF sector 7 strongly opposes such heinous acts in our area and appeals to the community to get involved with their local CPFs in order to increase our presence in the suburbs,” said Ramon Collins, spokesperson for the CPF.

The Krugersdorp Police are appealing to the community to provide any information they may have that might assist in identifying the deceased or tracing the suspect/s involved.

“The deceased was a black male who was wearing blue denim jeans, a jersey and a shirt,” said Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, the spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.
