Four arrested during crime prevention initiative

'They could have repossessed the vehicle without looking for the perpetrators.'

Four suspects, aged between 24 and 33, were arrested on Thursday, 3 November during a Kagiso Police crime prevention initiative in the area.

The police allegedly received a tip-off about a hijacked motor vehicle that was spotted on Nomandi Street, Kagiso.

They followed up and discovered the hijacked Nissan NP200 abandoned in a yard. During intense investigations police received another tip-off regarding the suspects’ whereabouts. The information led police to a house in Otlega Street, central Kagiso where they arrested the four suspects. The suspects were detained at Kagiso Police Station and a case of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was opened.

The suspects are set to appear in Kagiso Magistrates’ Court today, 7 November.

Colonel Netshitangani, Kagiso Police acting station commander praised the detectives for going the extra mile.

“They could have repossessed the vehicle without looking for the perpetrators,” he said.

“An extra mile the members went must be applauded. They could have easily removed the car only and not bother to find out where the perpetrators were hiding. I am proud of their positive attitude,” saidl Netshitangani.
