Two very unlucky 54-year-old victims had an unfortunate experience when their houses were ransacked by robbers on Friday, 4 November.
The first robbery occurred in Driefontein, Muldersdrift, at approximately 1am. It is believed the victim heard a noise and upon investigation found an armed suspect at his door. The brave victim allegedly screamed at the suspect who then immediately fled the scene. The victim allegedly searched his property for more suspects, and two of them approached him. One of the suspects fired two shots. The bullets fortunately missed the victim. The victim fled to safety inside his house when a the third suspect allegedly fired another two shots. These bullets didn’t hit him either.
The victim then allegedly fled to the landlord’s house. Upon returning to his own house, he discovered that electronic equipment had been stolen from the property.
The second house robbery occurred in Lammermoor on a smallholding at approximately 8.15pm on the same day.
The complainant was in his room when two suspects forced their way in. One suspect pointed a firearm at the complainant.
It is alleged the 44-year-old neighbour of the complainant heard noises and decided to investigate. She entered the room where the complainant was and the suspects also pointed the firearm at her.
The suspects stole cellphones and money before fleeing in both the complainant and the woman’s vehicles – a white Nissan NP200 and a Nissan NP300.
No shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.
It is not yet clear if these two crimes are related.
