Cellphone stolen in courtroom

They will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates' Court for stealing a cellphone in court.

Two suspects where arrested inside the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 November at about 1pm after they had allegedly stolen a cellphone in one of the courts.

It is alleged that one of the suspects stole a Samsung Galaxy S6 from someone’s handbag. The suspects were sitting in one of the courtrooms.

A vigilant security officer allegedly saw the suspects taking the cellphone. They were identified by their clothing and the security officer searched them.

They uncovered the phone hidden inside one of the suspect’s underwear and arrested him. The second suspect was also arrested as an accomplice.

They will appear in court soon.

“We urge community members to look after their belongings at all times,” Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson said.

“Avoid being a victim of crime.”
