Krugersdorp Police have urged people, especially the elderly, to be vigilant at all times after an elderly couple had been attacked and assaulted in their home on Piet Retief Avenue, Monument.

It is alleged the couple heard a window of their home breaking on Monday, 14 November at approximately 3pm.

Three armed unknown males entered the house.

One of the suspects assaulted one of the elderly people – who is 80 years old – by hitting the person on the head with a firearm.

The suspects stole laptops, cellphones, jewellery and a handbag.

Brigadier Baloyi, Krugersdorp Police station commander expressed his concern about the recent spate of brutal attacks on homeowners.

“This type of criminal activity will be prioritised by the police to have those responsible face the consequences of their actions,” Baloyi said. Krugersdorp Police ask the community to provide them with any relevant information by calling 011 951 1151.
