Elderly man arrested for perjury

It is alleged the two men were in business together.

An elderly man, aged 67, was arrested on Tuesday, 15 November at about 1pm after the Krugersdorp Police detectives discovered he had opened a false case at the police station.

It is alleged the elderly man opened a case against another man, stating that the man had pointed a firearm at him on Sunday, 13 November.

Detectives were assigned to the case and upon investigation, discovered that he was not being honest about the incident. They interviewed a number of witnesses, and realised they all had different versions of the incident.

It is alleged the two men were in business together, and when things stopped running smoothly, the alleged perjurer opened a false case against his partner.

Krugersdorp Police have warned members of the community to refrain from opening false cases to avoid being caught and having to face the law.

In a previous statement by Krugersdorp Police, citizens were informed that precious resources were going to waste due to false cases being opened, and a stern warning was issued to people who open false cases.
