Man’s killer arrested a day after murder

Eyewitnesses say the victim had a heated argument with the alleged 28-year-old suspect.

The body of a man was recovered in Sinqobile, Kagiso on Thursday, 1 December after he had allegedly been stabbed in the upper body by another man at about 1pm.

Kagiso Police received a tip-off stating that the deceased was lying face down at the scene of the crime. Upon arrival the police discovered the man with a single stab wound to the chest.

Eyewitnesses say the victim had a heated argument with the alleged 28-year-old suspect, when the suspect pulled out a sharp object and stabbed him. The suspect fled the scene on foot after the stabbing.

An extensive manhunt was launched, and the suspect was arrested a day later at about 11am. He appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court briefly on Monday, 5 December after a murder case was opened against him. He was remanded in custody until a new court date was determined.

The motive for the killing is still under police investigation.
