Orphans treated to burgers and chips

Silverstar Casino recently treated 80 orphans to burgers and chips at Ruimsig Spur.
For most of them this was the first time in their lives they had been to a Spur, let alone a restaurant.

The orphans and their caregivers from the Angela Day Care and Ikageng Day Community Home Based Care in Kagiso were given a special Christmas treat as part of Silverstar’s corporate social investment projects for the year.
“Silverstar provided young children from the impoverished community of Kagiso an experience of sharing the love, joy, peace and happiness which is the spirit of Christmas. This is an annual kiddies Christmas party that is aimed at treating orphans to a lovely party,” Claire Ndala of Silverstar said.

After their meal the children played in the play area while the caregivers could sit back and relax a bit.
Claire mentioned to the News that most of these children have never, even been to a shopping centre or restaurant, and that the experience was somewhat overwhelming for them.
“I am afraid they might not want to leave and return to their normal lives. It breaks our hearts and we wish we could treat these children every day.”

The warm summer’s day was ended off with welcoming torrential rain, which formed a beautiful rainbow to symbolise the end of a happy day.
