Another blast at a local business
This is the second business that had its safe blown open by explosives.
A meat supplier in Krugersdorp had an awful start to their year when burglars targeted their business premises on Saturday, 7 January.
Three suspects allegedly entered the premises at approximately 3pm that day. It is believed they entered the premises through the office ceiling.
They opened the business safe with explosives. The suspects allegedly removed a large amount of money and a large coin collection to the value of millions of rands.
The suspects tied the security guard with shoelaces while they where holding him at gunpoint. The suspects then fled the scene.
Krugersdorp Police were called to the scene once it was discovered that the business had been robbed. A case of business robbery has been opened.
“We appeal to the community to assist us with any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects,” Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police said.
In a separate, yet similar incident, the DIY Depot in Monument was burgled in the early morning hours of Monday, 9 January.
Four suspects entered the store and used explosives to gain access to the contents of the safe, which they took and made a run for it.
