Police arrested a 22-year-old suspect on Sunday evening 15 January after he allegedly had shot a man in 2016.
It is believed police were patrolling the area on 26 October 2016 when a community member complained about an alleged shooting in Tshepisong.
The officers rushed to the scene and found the woman who told them the story about a shooting. She allegedly said she was at her residence when two intruders entered her house and fired shots at her boyfriend – the complainant. The motive of the shooting is unknown.
After wounding the complainant, the suspects fled the scene. Emergency services personnel were called and advised the complainant to go to hospital.
Kagiso Police managed to apprehend one of the suspects on the Sunday – almost three months later. He was detained at Kagiso Police Station and an attempted murder case was re-opened, adding the suspect’s name to the docket.
He appeared briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 17 January and was remanded in custody for further investigations.
Police are still searching for the second suspect.
“We advise the public not to approach or try to arrest the suspect as he is armed and dangerous,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson.
