New constables: 1/ Drug possessors: 0

Newly appointed constables in the West Rand Cluster police proved their worth when they confiscated a firearm and drugs during a crime prevention raid.

Under the close supervision of a number of experienced crime prevention officers, the constables arrested 11 male suspects between the ages of 19 and 52 for possession of illegal substances and stolen goods.

In another crime-fighting operation, the newly appointed constables followed up on a tip-off from community members which led them to a tuckshop in Kagiso, where a 9mm pistol was recovered, and two males aged 26 and 30 were arrested.

All the abovementioned suspects are expected to appear in the Magistrates’ Courts in their respective areas.

Brigadier Leon Kruger, acting cluster commander for the West Rand Cluster, applauded the new constables for a job well done. He also expressed his gratitude towards the community for coming forward with helpful information.

“A trusted relationship with the community we serve will always have good results,” said Kruger.
