Official police warning against drug use issued to homeowners
"It has come to the attention of the police that homeowners in the Krugersdorp area are victims of home invasions."
Krugersdorp Police have released an official statement warning homeowners of an increase in the number of reported home invasions in the area.
“It has come to the attention of the police that homeowners in the Krugersdorp area are victims of home invasions, and then at a later stage the takeover of their homes and other valuable property,” said Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.
This comes after numerous homeowners had become addicted to drugs and accumulated so much debt by buying drugs on credit that they eventually needed to rent their homes to drug dealers to support their addiction.

The suspected drug dealers then suggest that the supposedly addicted owners pay their debts with their vehicles or even their houses.
“It is unfortunate that this information came to the police too late,” said Mashale.
“Drug use is dangerous. Stay away from places and people who can influence you to live the life of a drug addict. We also appeal to the community to report both those who deal in drugs and those who use them.”
