Police arrest seven murder suspects

A firearm which is believed to be the murder weapon was retrieved and is undergoing forensic testing.

The West Rand Trio task team, with the help of detectives from the Rustenburg Police have arrested seven suspects in Magaliesburg, for allegedly committing murder, hijacking vehicles and robbing houses.

Lieutenant Colonel Gert Kruger, commander of the team, said his team received information from a reliable source regarding the suspects’ whereabouts.

The team questioned the informant, who told them where to find the suspects who allegedly murdered a victim on 8 February. The team traced the suspects and arrested them on 15 February, and retrieved a quantity of stolen goods. They also confiscated a firearm found in their possession.

The firearm is believed to be the murder weapon; however, the results of the forensic testing are awaited to make this fact concrete.
