Local photographer wins international award
Charles’ vision is to create a brand where every person he photographs has an unforgettable experience.
A local photographer, Charles Kok, recently won an international award for a portrait photo he took of model Kuzo Daza.
Portrait Photo Awards is an International Portrait Photography Contest which holds portrait photography competitions every month. The results of each collection are published monthly on the competition’s website and Instagram page.
For the month of February, Charles and his studio received the award as overall winner. Charles now stands a chance to be crowned best portrait photographer of the year, a prestigious title revered by the photographic community and bestowed only on the truly inspired artists in the field of photography. This was Charles’ as well as his studio’s first entry ever to this competition, and only three portraits were entered this round.

The photo was taken at Chay Studios in Krugersdorp and Charles used a one light setup technique; he also used v-flats to imitate daylight by bouncing the light around the model.
Charles’ vision is to create a brand where every person he photographs has an unforgettable experience which combines professionalism with excellence and is focused on building a portfolio that captures the uniqueness of each individual, incorporates each client’s specific needs and captures the very essence of the client through beautiful imagery.
