Kagiso resident Nontombi Zondo honoured at Kempton Park awards
A West Rand mother has turned personal tragedy into a beacon of support for local children living with disabilities.
A Kagiso resident, Nontombi Zondo, who is the founder and project manager of the Nomfundo Zondo Foundation, has received recognition at the Queens with Purpose South Africa Awards for supporting local children with disabilities.
Through her personal journey as a mother and caregiver, Zondo gained a deep understanding of the daily challenges faced by children with disabilities and their families. She said the foundation is committed to promoting early intervention, inclusion, advocacy, and equal opportunities for every child.
Zondo founded the organisation following the death of her daughter Nomfundo, who lived with hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy.
Women driving positive change recognised
The awards took place on August 22 at The Fortress Venue in Kempton Park.
The event was founded by CEO Thembi Maesela and launched as a social development and gender empowerment movement dedicated to recognising and honouring remarkable South African women driving positive change and community transformation.
