Man stabs friend over woman
The community member who contacted the police turned out to be the culprit as he informed police that he and the deceased were arguing about a woman.
Kagiso Police arrested a young man on Sunday, 26 February, after he allegedly stabbed his rival for a woman’s affections to death.
Just after noon that day, police received a complaint from a concerned member of the public saying that a man had been stabbed to death. They deployed crime prevention members who found a man lying in the street. The man was still bleeding profusely from his wounds. Police realised the man was motionless and called an ambulance. Paramedics arrived moments later and certified the man dead on scene. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to the upper body and head.
The community member who contacted the police turned out to be the culprit, as he informed police that he and the deceased were arguing about a woman. The suspect was later arrested at his sister’s house and the weapon that was believed to have been used to stab the deceased was also recovered.
The suspect was detained at Kagiso Police Station, where a case docket of murder was opened. He has made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
