They sprayed, shaved or donated for cancer research

They feel that even a small donation can make a big difference.

Have you sprayed or shaved your hair yet?

The Cansa Shavathon marathon has been everywhere these past few weeks and it seems as if the whole community and its schools got involved.

UniCollege West Rand made their Shavathon day extra special by entertaining the whole college. Music, something to eat, pool and something to drink made the day more cheerful. This initiative also helped the students to relax and get to know each other better.

Nicole Levy, Leandri Janse van Rensburg and Robin Smith were in control of the hairspray for the day.

“We all worked as a team today and we not only sprayed and shaved our hair, but sold cupcakes and ribbons as well,” said marketing manager, Natalie Franklin.

These students all had a story to tell. Most of them had a sibling that had passed away or who is currently struggling with cancer. They feel that even a small donation can make a difference.

“The response today was amazing. Some gave us donations and one guy even shaved his hair,” said Nicole Levy.

The college wants to give as much as possible back to the community and by participating in these marathons they believe that they are one step closer towards achieving their aim.

They want to encourage those who have not yet participated in the marathon to get involved and in the process educate and inform people about the reality of cancer.
