Do your feet know where your heart is?

Let your feet speak for your heart as we celebrate National Tekkie Tax Day on the 26th of May 2017.

The Tekkie Tax campaign has been part of the South African calendar for the last four years. It gives you the opportunity to show with your feet where your heart lies.

The campaign started in 2013, when a few of South Africa’s biggest and most accountable welfare organisations joined forces.

The large number of welfare organisations involved helps us to keep the costs structure low and ensures that the maximum amount of donations can be used by us to deliver our services on grass roots level,” said Marieta Kemp, Director Social Services from the South African Veterinary Foundation (SAVF).

Choose your sticker for a cause close to your heart, spunk up your takkies with a funky pair of tag shoelaces and you are ready for National Tekkie Tax Day!

How you can take part:

Pay your tax by getting a sticker representing a cause close to your heart. Spunk up your takkies with a pair of Tekkie Tag shoelaces.

Dress as you may, but wear your takkies on Friday, 26 May.

Stickers and shoelaces are available from any Clicks, Toys R Us/ Babies R Us store, or right now from nearly 300 welfare organisations countrywide. You can also order online at www.tekkietax.co.za or order what you need from tekkietax@mweb.co.za.

The Tekkie Tax campaign has raised more than R22 million so far and the impact at ground level is remarkable.

We bought a table tennis set for children with autism,” said a representative from the Kwathando Care Centre.

Merewent Cheshire Home said:

We used our Tekkie Tax donations to purchase toiletries for our disabled residents.

Free State Care in Action bought bread for poor and hungry children at school and the SAVF Middelburg Social Work office was able to buy groceries for their needy clients. The list is long and these are only a few examples of how the donations have been utilised in the past,” said a representative from Merewent Cheshire Homes.
