It is believed the boys – aged 17 and 18 were on the back of their teacher’s bakkie when he lost control of the vehicle. One of the boys landed in razor wire, while the other landed on the tar surface of the road. The teacher allegedly left the scene.

Netcare 911, ER24 and Help24 paramedics were called to the scene and arrived shortly after the accident.

Both boys were conscious when the paramedics arrived. The first boy sustained multiple cuts on his back and right arm and needed to be airlifted to hospital. The Netcare 911 helicopter transported him to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
