Rope thief lassoed by local security company

The shop he tried to rob sells expensive rope usually made for bungy jumping cords, towing cords and ropes used to pull ships into a dock.

Dowry Security’s High Risk and Reaction Units apprehended a suspect in Voortrekker Street, Kenmare after he allegedly tried to steal stock worth about R30 000 from a local business on Sunday, 19 March at about 8.40am.

It is believed the suspect and his accomplice were carrying goods out of the store when a security guard caught them in the act. The guard contacted Dowry Security to assist.

Once Dowry members were on scene, the suspects tried to escape by jumping over fences and running away.

The members chased them into a field next to Laerskool Kenmare where they managed to apprehend one suspect.

Community Police Forum sector 8 members also assisted in apprehending the suspect.

The owner of the shop opened a case of business robbery at the Krugersdorp police station.
