Finding your dream career has never been so easy
Twenty-four exhibitors showcased their offerings.
Career choices can be difficult, but with some early guidance, they can be made easier.
The expo project of the Krugersdorp Rotary Club, which is administered by the West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism, was recently held in the Show Hall in Greenhills, Randfontein.

The aim of the expo was to provide a venue where students of school-leaving age could be exposed to multiple career choices presented by as many institutions as possible. The organisers hope that this platform will constitute the foundation for decisions to be taken in the future. They strive to not only satisfy the needs of the broad spectrum of students, but also to cater for those with specific needs.

“This expo showcases the different career choices children can make in order for them to become more productive members of the nation as well as the community,” said the president of the Rotary Club, Heather Sparg.
According to Dehlia van Staden from the West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism, the expo used to be held over the course of three days, but it has become so big that they decided to extend it to a four-day event.
This year, 7 000 school children aged 16 and older attended the expo. According to Heather, these children do not get any education or guidance about career choices, so the expo serves as a basic foundation for them.

Twenty-four exhibitors, including the Mogale Traffic Department, the South African Police, UniCollege, and First National Bank (to name just a few) showcased their career opportunities.
The Mogale City Traffic Department’s Customer Awareness Officer thanked the West Rand Career Expo for the opportunity to showcase their service.
Dehlia believes that the expo will only become bigger and better in the years to come.
