Huge success as rapists are sentenced
"These sentences should serve as a deterrent to like-minded criminals."
The West Rand Cluster Police are proud to announce that two rapists both received lengthy prison sentences after they were found guilty of raping a number of women in the Kagiso and Hekpoort areas.
Joseph Tshabalala was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment after he raped a 21-year-old victim in her house in 2016. Constable Mandla Khuse, who is attached to the Krugersdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit , worked tirelessly to gather enough evidence to use against Tshabalala.

In another case, Thabang Amos Kobedi was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment after he raped a 38-year-old victim in 2015. The incident took place at a tavern in Hekpoort.
Constable Paulet Mapena, who is also attached to the FCS Unit, secured the conviction by constant attention to detail and gathering substantial evidence.

“The members’ efforts are applauded. It needs to be mentioned that the cooperation between the National Prosecuting Authority and the Police contributed to this success,” said Major General Anna Mateisi, the West Rand Cluster commander.”These sentences should serve as a deterrent to like-minded criminals. Congratulations to all who were involved in securing these sentences. Hard work and dedication surely paid off. The investigating officers’ efforts are appreciated,” said Mateisi.
