New digital systems were recently presented to the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) and will be used in the future.
The WRDM recently hosted a hand-over event of the Corporate Service Corps (CSC) programme in partnership with IBM and Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT).
The CSC is a global IBM initiative designed to provide small businesses, educational institutions and non-profit organisations in growth markets with sophisticated business consulting and skills development to help improve local conditions and foster job creation.
IBM deploys teams of top employees from around the world, representing information technology, research, marketing, finance, and business development, to growth markets. The employees are tasked with working with local organisations and businesses on projects that span business, technology and society.
The teams had the opportunity to work with the WRDM for a month and had to showcase their findings and suggestions to the municipality.
DOT has the local expertise and networks to target communities and create innovative, high-impact, meaningful IBM-CSC deployments that address local socio-economic priorities.
The project included creating new systems that will register, track, evaluate and hasten service delivery within the region.
All the recommendations made to the municipality were accepted at the hand-over and will be implemented in the future to ensure better service delivery.
