An international first-ever for local preschools institution

Research indicates that children who do not receive the correct stimulation in their first five years have a 70 per cent chance of being arrested for a violent crime.

The Play-with-a-Purpose Educational Trust’s Preschools 4 Africa recently received a quality management system certification, a first for a local non-profit educational institution, and a first for all universities, primary and high schools, preschools and educational training facilities globally. Since no other educational institute has ever achieved this certification, Preschools 4 Africa has set the bar for any other such organisation wanting to achieve the same international status.

Preschools 4 Africa is a South African non-profit organisation that has over 25 years of community and early childhood development (ECD) experience.

Riandi Conradie, Mrs South Africa Charity 2016, also attended the celebrations.

It currently mentors over 80 preschool teachers in Gauteng, North West, Eastern Cape, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

The organisation aims to assist young children in their quest to obtain quality and relevant early childhood education in order to ensure that they are in a position to ultimately be gainfully employed and become global citizens.

The organisation was fortunate enough to recently pass the gruelling audit to obtain ISO 9001 certification.

Preschools for Africa’s Roxanne Wienand with Riandi Conradie and the organisation’s founder, Robyn Wienand.

ISO 9001 is an International Standards Organisation that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS).

“It is very exciting that a small South African non-profit educational organisation was able to achieve this before any other educational institution worldwide,” said founder Robyn Wienand.

The organisation’s vision is to provide quality early childhood education, and have a preschool within walking distance of every child in order to lay a foundation for their future. Its mission is to achieve thatr vision through providing quality whole-school teacher training and mentoring to early childhood development centres across South Africa in rural, township and suburban areas.

Research indicates that children who do not receive the correct stimulation in their first five years have a 70 per cent chance of being arrested for a violent crime and a 30 per cent less chance of entering a tertiary education institution. It is for this reason that Robyn began to assist these less fortunate children.

The organisation’s brand ambassador, Riandi Conradie, who is also Mrs South Africa Charity 2016, also attended the day and delivered a presentation on professionalism in the workplace to educators. She works as a business analyst and is also an entrepreneur/ businesswoman and the owner of Premier Academy. Her presentation was highly appropriate for the day as educators from all over attended.

The organisation would like to keep its main focus active by creating a standard of equality in education across the board and giving the children of our nation a chance for a brighter future.
