[JUST IN] Protest at court after rape of disabled woman

"The accused knew her well and knew that she wouldn't resist because of her disability."

Infuriated community members gathered outside the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 11 April to support the family of a 20-year-old mentally disabled woman who was allegedly raped on 25 March.

It is believed the man who appeared in court that day lured the woman into his home, knowing that she had a mental disability.

“He knew her well and knew that she wouldn’t resist because of her disability,” said the victim’s father, who was protesting with the group of community members outside the courtroom.

Details of the circumstances of the alleged rape and the court case will follow soon.
