Dowry High Risk Unit members who were on scene said the driver was so intoxicated that he could barely stand up straight.

“He was so drunk that he didn’t recognise his friend who came to help him,” said one of the High Risk Unit members.

The second vehicle had extensive damage.

The man is believed to be a pilot of light aircrafts and had been involved in a collision at the exact same intersection in January 2016 – allegedly also drunk.

The man allegedly tried to flee the scene, but Dowry members parked their vehicle in front of his SUV and Sector 7 Community Policing Forum members parked behind him to prevent him from leaving.

The SUV had minor damage to its front.

ER24 paramedics assessed the drivers of both vehicles and found both of them had only sustained minor injuries.

Krugersdorp Police arrested the SUV driver for reckless and negligent driving.

The members checked on the injured security guard who had driven the other vehicle, alerted EMS services, controlled traffic flow and cleaned up the oil and petrol spill.
