Biker collides with kudu; sustains fatal injuries
The rider, his motorbike and the kudu were found lying several metres apart.
On Sunday morning, 30 April, a motorbike rider sadly lost his life when he collided with a kudu on the R512, outside Lanseria.
At about 7:30am that morning, the road became the scene of a horrifying crash and paramedics arrived to find the biker lying in the road.

ER24 paramedics found the rider, his motorbike and the kudu lying several metres apart. The driver was fatally wounded and was declared dead on the scene. The kudu was also found to be dead.
A witness explained that he saw the rider and his bike flung into the air, but did not know the man had collided with the animal. It was only when he pulled over to assist that he noticed the animal lying on the side of the road.

A greater kudu can weigh between 190 and 270kg whereas a lesser kudu weighs between 60 and 90kg. It is unclear what size the kudu was.
