[FOLLOW UP] Chairperson of estate killed in police crossfire
They looked for him, following a trail of blood they found. They found him dead behind one of the walls.
Since the shooting of a man in the Silvercreek section of the Ruimsig Country Estate Wednesday, 3 May, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has released a statement saying that an exchange of gunfire took place between police and perpetrators, resulting in the chairperson of the managing board of the estate being shot in the crossfire.
Drift Reaction, a local security company, was also on the scene with police when the incident ensued.

Moses Dlamini, spokesperson for Ipid, said the Muldersdrift Police were alerted to the presence of intruders on the estate.
“When they got inside the estate to investigate, they were shot at and they retaliated. The intruders got away,” said Dlamini. “They searched [for the intruders], but could not find them.”
Before the shooting, they saw three other people approaching them; however, after the shooting they only saw two.
“When they asked about the third person, they were told that he was the chairperson of the managing board. They looked for him and followed the trail of blood they found. They found him dead behind one of the walls.”
Members of Ipid were called to the scene after it was cleared and investigations are still under way.
