[FOLLOW UP] Robber shot in foot by elderly man

An elderly man from Krugersdorp North made sure the robbers left the scene with a great story to tell.

Just before 1pm on 4 May, a botched robbery occurred on Kingdon Street, Krugersdorp North.

Krugersdorp Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and house robbery.

One of the suspects who was arrested.

It is alleged that two intruders entered a 79-year-old man’s home and pointed a firearm at him and his domestic worker. It is further alleged that the homeowner managed to reach for his firearm and shot one suspect. However, he also sustained a bullet wound.

Numerous paramedics as well as the local Community Policing Forum and the police were on scene to assist.

According to Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, the police reacted speedily and it resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old man with a bullet wound to his foot. He was apprehended not far from the scene. The suspect is currently in hospital under police guard.

“The second suspect was apprehended at a nearby taxi rank and is being detained at the police station for possession of an unlicensed firearm and house robbery,” said Mashale.
