Drink a Coke on National Have a Coke Day

Have a Coke Day, celebrate this day by trying some of these great ways to enjoy Coke.

Each year on May 8, millions of people across the world celebrate National Have a Coke Day.

Coke is a well-known cold drink that is sold in more than 200 countries worldwide. Coke is an icy-cold thirst quencher on a hot summer day. It’s the perfect accompaniment to all of our favorite foods and a sweet treat on its own.

The history of Coke:

• 1891 – The first bottling of Coca-Cola occurred at the Biedenharn Candy Company in Vicksburg, Mississippi

• 1894 – The first outdoor wall advertisement promoting Coca-Cola was painted in Cartersville, Georgia

• 1914 – The longest running commercial Coca-Cola soda fountain anywhere was Atlanta’s Fleeman’s Pharmacy. The pharmacy closed its doors in 1995 after 81 years

• 1944 – July 12, the one-billionth gallon of Coca-Cola syrup was manufactured by the Coca-Cola Company

• 1955 – Cans of Coke first appeared

Did you know that Coke is used for much more than drinking? We cook with it and clean with it too. In honour of National Have a Coke Day, celebrate this day by trying some of these great ways to enjoy coke.

Remember the Coke saying: “Taste the feeling”.
