Police officer run over while on duty

Magaliesburg Police are investigating two cases of reckless and negligent driving.

On Thursday, 11 May a police sergeant was knocked down on the R24 while trying to control traffic.

It’s understood that the sergeant was on an accident scene at 5.50am near Maloney’s Eye Primary School where a truck had overturned earlier that day. While he was controlling oncoming traffic, he was knocked down by a passing motorist.

The sergeant was taken to a local hospital where he received medical treatment.

Magaliesburg Police are investigating two cases of reckless and negligent driving – one regarding the overturned truck and the other regarding the vehicle that knocked down the police officer.
