Just because winter is arriving on our doorsteps this weekend does not mean we are not allowed to go out.
Here are a few things happening around town this weekend that you might be interested in:
• This Mother’s Day, Elvis Blue will be performing at Silverstar. With his unique blend of charisma and authenticity, he will be serenading guests with new music as well as his well-known hits. Elvis Blue shows are always an intimate affair, as he shares stories behind his most-loved songs, taking his audience on a personal and entertaining journey.
• Mogale City Local Municipality has kicked off its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) roadshows. On 13 May, residents of Makhulugama and West Village are invited to attend from 10am on the Makhulugama grounds. Hekpoort residents will convene at 2pm at the Hekpoort Community Hall. On Sunday, residents of Magaliesburg are requested to get together from 9am at the Magaliesburg Civic Centre and residents from Tarlton are invited to attend at 9am at the Nelson Mandela Hall. At these public participation meetings, the IDP, as well as the budget compilation process, will be reviewed.
• The Mystery Ghost Bus will be touring through Johannesburg today (12 May), and in Irene (including Pretoria) tomorrow, 13 May. There will be ‘Pub & Grub’ stops, poltergeist stops, electronic voice phenomenon recordings, dowsing rods, castles, a dark haunted room, graveyards and much more. • Our Club for singles is hosting at braai at Marks Park on Judith Road, just off Beyers Naudé Drive, on Sunday, 14 May from noon. Braai facilities are available, but you need to bring your own meat, salads and rolls, as well as crockery and cutlery. It is a licensed premises therefore all drinks are to be bought at the bar.
