The 27-year-old made her first appearance.
The Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court was nearly empty the day the mother who dumped her newborn baby in a toilet at Key West Shopping Centre appeared in front of the magistrate.
The 27-year-old woman was arrested on child abandonment charges on 11 May, six days after a woman discovered her baby girl face down in a toilet.

The short appearance was followed by a ruling granting the mother bail. She was released from police custody and will appear in court again on Thursday, 22 June.
The baby, who was named Hope after numerous good Samaritans donated clothes for her moments after she was discovered, is still in Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital, but is healthy.
