Police raid local high school

On Tuesday, 16 May, members of the Social Crime Prevention Unit visited the N Diederichs Technical High School to conduct an unannounced school search.
Members of 13 police stations in the West Rand Cluster participated in the search to ensure that the school is safe.

During the search, officers confiscated dangerous objects like slingshots, as well as dice, which are normally used for gambling.
“It is through operations like this that we reassure the learners and their teachers of their safety,” said Major General Anna Mateisi, the commander of the West Rand Cluster.
The school search programme is expected to be intensified as Child Protection Week approaches.
