Police committed to cleaning up notorious K’dorp street
A substantial number of undocumented persons, plus a quantity of drugs were found during the raid.
Police arrested 16 suspects in connection with drug-related crimes on Krugersdorp’s notorious Sivewright Street in the early hours of Monday, 8 May.
Policemen attached to different units in the West Rand Cluster conducted a crime prevention operation in the drug hotspot to combat the distribution of substances that haunt Krugersdorpers.

Fifteen of the suspects who were arrested had no documentation for being in the country. One suspect was found in possession of a substantial amount of drugs.
“We will be concentrating extensively on this area during our crime prevention operations,” said Major General Mateisi, cluster commander for the West Rand. “We committed ourselves [to this area] and we are now fulfilling this commitment.

This was the second operation of its kind in the area and was launched to address issues such as prostitution, drug peddling and undocumented persons who reside illegally in the area.
