Almost 400 arrests in one week in the West Rand
Drugs, firearms, and suspected stolen goods were also seized.
The West Rand Cluster Police secured 397 arrests last week (between Monday, 15 May and Sunday, 21 May).
Some suspects were arrested for serious crimes such as rape, murder, dealing in drugs, assault and domestic violence, and others were arrested for house robbery, theft, possession of stolen property and more.
The arrests were secured during various crime prevention initiatives held throughout the cluster.

Drugs, firearms, and suspected stolen goods were also seized. Shoplifting, trespassing and liquor-related crimes –which are deemed minor offences – were also policed.
In a separate incident, two suspects were arrested after they allegedly robbed a pedestrian on Saturday, 20 May. The victim was walking when four men in a black vehicle approached him.
They pointed a firearm at him and demanded cash. He handed the money over and they sped off.
Like the other arrested suspects, these two will also appear in court soon.
Brigadier Leon Kruger, acting cluster commander for the West Rand, applauded police in the cluster for their undying devotion to their job and for securing the arrests. He also thanked them for encouraging community members to work hand-in-hand with the police by giving them tip-offs.
