Roodepoort SPCA needs your help
They cover the Roodepoort and Krugersdorp area, which is vast!
The Roodepoort SPCA is asking Krugersdorpers – businesses and individuals – to assist them by coming forward with support.
The SPCA needs to be sustained year-round, year after year. When the Krugersdorp SPCA closed, a number of concerned individuals came forward to help, but by then it was too late.

Residents are reminded that the Roodepoort SPCA does not receive and never has received government funding, and the income from the City of Joburg is payment for services rendered, not a grant.
To make matters even more difficult, SA Lotto also recently announced that it would no longer support animal welfare as it is concentrating on government priorities.
“We believe that people and animals go together. Compassion for all living things is our priority,” Mandy Cattanach, manager at Roodepoort SPCA said.
“Please consider the proposed ways in which you could help. Donations (including the value of items or services) qualify for a Section 18A tax certificate.”
More ways to help:
• Sponsor a kennel for a dog or cat for R500 per month
• Take out a My School card with the Roodepoort SPCA as the named beneficiary. There is no cost ever to the cardholder. The Roodepoort SPCA receives income monthly and every swipe really does count – and helps animals.
• Donate directly. Banking details: Standard Bank, Acc number 021 145 571, Code 015 641, current account. Please don’t forget to advise of EFT deposits so they can reconcile the income and send a message of thanks.
• Collect blankets, collars, leads and bowls from friends, colleagues and loved ones. These items are always welcomed.
“In addition to supporting our fund-raising activities and our thrift and book shops, pass on mails and messages about them so that others not on our mailing list hear about them.”

Mandy said you can also assist by promoting the donation of items they need to operate effectively which includes photocopying paper (admission forms, adoption papers and preparing dockets for court cases) plus printer cartridges.
“Out fuel costs are high. We collect unwanted or injured animals, respond to reports of cruelty and have an emergency service on standby 24/ 7 every day of the year. We cover the Roodepoort and Krugersdorp area, which is vast. Is anyone willing to come forward and sponsor a tank of fuel monthly or a filling station prepared to step forward and become a valued sponsor?”
